SINGAPORE – Advanced manufacturing is on full display this week at an exhibition at the Singapore Expo.

Manufacturing Technology Asia 2017 (MTA), which began today (April 4), will allow business leaders to gain new insights and ideas to adopt new advanced manufacturing technologies in their operations by talking to seasoned industry players who have already implemented such techniques. They will also be able to explore existing advanced manufacturing technologies in the market and meet with technology and service providers they can work with to develop new solutions.

The event brings together 301 companies from 26 countries.

“As technological advances bring about greater connectivity and optimisation across the value chain, MTA2017 has gathered industry leaders and technology enablers to share their knowledge and successes in digitalisation and help businesses in Asia accelerate and achieve digital transformation in their processes, business operations and services,” said Ms Lindy Wee, the chief executive of UBM SES, which organised the exhibition.

The exhibition showcases a spectrum of innovative technologies in additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, optics and photonics, precision engineering and semiconductor manufacturing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry Ms Sim Ann highlighted the importance of preparing Singapore’s manufacturing sector for future technological developments.

“Advanced manufacturing presents significant opportunities for our economy, companies and people,” she said. “Events, such as the MTA, serve as useful and important platforms for key stakeholders to exchange ideas, and discuss how we can work together to drive the industry’s push towards advanced manufacturing.”

Firms involved in manufacturing may register for the exhibition, which will run until Friday (April 7).
