Global Instability Provides an Opportunity for India

    trevor-galbraith

The Chinese EMS industry continues to hemorrhage factories and jobs to Vietnam and The Philippines while Europe and the USA are in political disarray, causing many companies to suspend investment programs until they can see further clarity.

Meanwhile, India continues to grow and expand its EMS footprint, but it should use this opportunity to leap ahead of its Chinese rivals by implementing factory automation and state-of-the-art process control now, rather than play technology catch up to the rest of the EMS world.

If India can successfully sow the seeds of the factory revolution technologies into the new breed of EMS companies and incubators that are springing up around the country, they will be in a much stronger position to compete on the global stage when markets return to normal.

The upcoming Electronica/ Productronica exhibition in Bangalore, September 21-23, 2016 will provide an interesting barometer of the progress Indian manufacturers have made so far and give some indication of what we can expect from them in the future.

Global SMT & Packaging South East Asia will be covering this important event with editors and camera crews meeting and interviewing industry leaders. Be sure to visit our Booth number 3210 at the show.
