[vc_video title=”#” link=”https://youtu.be/H_aNNAnn9EY”]A Harrisburg Area robotics team, made up of seventh through twelfth graders, compete this week in the 2017 World Robotics Championships in St. Louis, April 26-29.
Tej Lalvani, 14, of Covenant Christian Academy, and his sister Geeta Lalvani, 16, who is homeschooled, are two of eight team members, which includes students from Hershey, Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin school districts as well as Harrisburg Christian Academy.
This is the Lalvani’s third year of building robots and first time going to world championships.
There are over 140 teams competing in St. Louis, mostly from the United States but there are also teams from Asia and elsewhere.
Each team must design, build, program and operate a robot that performs challenges such as gathering up and throwing plastic balls into a hoop.
The siblings’ dad Rocky Lalvani is the coach of their (In)Formal Logic FTC Robotics Team 9872.
Some of the parts on the robot that couldn’t be found were made with a home 3D printer.
